This carefully planned journey combines mountain gorilla trekking in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with scenic countryside drives, luxury accommodation and cultural exploration in Rwanda’s vibrant capital, Kigali. You will discover lush tropical forests, rolling hills, traditional communities and modern urban attractions while enjoying personalised service and comfortable transport throughout your adventure. The itinerary is designed for travellers seeking a premium safari experience within a limited timeframe, with a private driver-guide, carefully selected accommodation and opportunities to appreciate the region’s unique biodiversity.
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, your professional Verdant Safaris driver-guide will welcome you, assist with your luggage and introduce you to the arrangements for your Ugandan adventure. You will then begin your journey towards southwestern Uganda in a private 4×4 safari vehicle, travelling through bustling towns, rural settlements and beautiful countryside. Along the way, you will enjoy views of green hills, cultivated farmland, roadside markets and traditional homesteads that reveal aspects of daily life in Uganda. A lunch stop will be arranged at a suitable restaurant, depending on your departure time and the progress of your journey. As you approach the Bwindi region, the landscape becomes increasingly mountainous, with thick vegetation and forest-covered slopes creating an impressive setting. On arrival at your lodge, you will check in, relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings before dinner. Your guide will brief you on the following day’s gorilla trekking experience, including the importance of suitable walking shoes, rain protection and compliance with park regulations.
Accommodation options: Buhoma Lodge, Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp, Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge.
Meals: (Lunch, Dinner), depending on your arrival time.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After an early breakfast, you will travel to the designated park headquarters for registration and a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. During the briefing, you will learn about mountain gorilla behaviour, conservation efforts, forest safety and the rules governing encounters with these endangered primates. You will then enter the forest with an experienced ranger-guide to search for an assigned habituated gorilla family. The duration of the trek varies according to the location of the gorillas, the terrain and the weather, so you should be prepared for several hours of walking through dense vegetation. Along the trails, you may encounter colourful birds, butterflies, distinctive forest plants and evidence of other wildlife. Once the gorillas are located, you will be allowed to observe them for up to one hour, watching their feeding habits, family interactions and daily activities from the required distance. You will have opportunities to take photographs without flash and appreciate the importance of protecting their natural habitat. After the trek, you will return to the starting point and travel back to your lodge for lunch, relaxation and dinner.
Accommodation options: Buhoma Lodge, Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp, Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge.

Day 3: Transfer from Bwindi to Kigali, Rwanda
Following breakfast, you will depart Bwindi for Rwanda, travelling through the scenic countryside of southwestern Uganda towards the appropriate international border crossing. Your private driver-guide will coordinate the journey and assist with the planned border arrangements, although you will need to present your passport and any required travel documentation. During the drive, you will see terraced hillsides, rural communities, cultivated valleys and impressive views of the highlands that characterise this part of East Africa. Once you enter Rwanda, the journey continues through its famous rolling green hills and neatly cultivated landscapes. You will stop for lunch at an appropriate location along the route, depending on the crossing point and travel time. On arrival in Kigali, you will check into your luxury hotel and have time to unwind after the journey. If you arrive early enough, your guide may arrange a short introductory drive through selected parts of the city, allowing you to see its modern districts and lively commercial areas. You will spend the evening at your hotel, where you can enjoy dinner and prepare for the following day’s cultural exploration.

You may visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where you can learn about the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and the country’s continuing work towards remembrance, reconciliation and peace. The visit is a solemn educational experience and should be approached respectfully. You can then explore a local craft market or artisan centre, where Rwandan artists display handmade baskets, paintings, textiles, jewellery and other cultural products. Depending on your interests, the programme may include a visit to a cultural centre or a guided walk through selected neighbourhoods to learn more about local lifestyles and traditions. Lunch will be served at a carefully selected restaurant offering Rwandan or international cuisine.
